Fundraising schoolgirl Lilly-Mae Chungh cleaned up nicely for charity with her car wash that raised money for young patients on the Children’s Ward at Walsall Manor Hospital.
The nine-year-old roped in her mum Laura too and the fundraising pair managed to get through around 40 cars.
Lilly-Mae, who is Miss Pre-Teen Galaxy and loves taking part in pageants, brought the items into the Fundraising Hub run by Walsall Healthcare NHs Trust’s charity Well Wishers.
“On my third birthday I broke my leg playing on the trampoline at my party and I had to be in the hospital for six weeks,” she explained.
“The Nurses gave me crafts to keep me busy and this really helped me because six weeks is such a long time and I would have been really fed up. I wanted to raise money to buy things for other children who are in hospital and that’s when I came up the idea of doing a car wash.”
Kimberley Aplin, Fundraising Support Officer at Walsall Healthcare, said Lilly-Mae’s donation had definitely cheered up young patients.
“What a thoughtful thing to do for others- thank you Lilly-Mae for giving up your time to help other children in this way.”
