The way we use patient data is changing: We aim to provide the highest quality care. To do this, we routinely collect information about you and the care you receive from us. Like other hospitals across England, we are changing how we share and use this data… Find out more
We are currently undertaking a landmark digital transformation and introducing a new electronic patient record (EPR) system, Blueprint.
This new system will support our staff to provide the best quality care for our patients.
The first phase will launch in September 2025.
Why are we making this change?
Currently our clinical and non-clinical services used a wide variety of different digital system to provide patient care.
The new CareFlow EPR system will integrate a number of these existing systems into a single Trust-wide EPR which will:
Enhance our clinical effectiveness and efficiency.
Provide a smoother care journey for our patients.
Resolve barriers to effective care outcomes for every patient.
Who is providing the new system
The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is working closely with Digital healthcare provider, System C, to ensure the new CareFlow system is optimised to meet the needs specific to our Trust.
How will Blueprint impact patients and communities?
Once the full CareFlow EPR system has been integrated in 2026 the way the Trust captures and manages patient date will change.
CareFlow EPR will support RWT clinicians to transition away from paper based clinical notes. Instead, patient data will be captured and stored securely on a single Trust-wide digital system. This means:
Every patient will have their own digital health record – containing all personal and health-related data.
Records will also include medical history, surgical appointments, medications, and allergies.
Records are unique to the patient and can only be accessed by clinicians who are directly involved in their care
Clinicians will have access to patient information at their fingertips using electronic devices – ensuring each patient receives timely and effective care.
Accurate and inclusive records stored securely in the CareFlow EPR system will support our clinicians to deliver the most effective care, based on each patient’s individual needs.
How will the launch of the new EPR impact patients
Phase one of the EPR programme will launch on Monday 15 September. This will include the introduction of a new Patient Administration System.
Official communications regarding phase one go live will be communicated to our patients and communities in advance, and a new data processing notice will be added to this website.
We encourage anyone using our services during the first few weeks of the new EPR to be respectful and patient with staff as we become familiar with the new system.
