Homepage Support at your appointment

We are committed to making sure the privacy, dignity and safety of everyone is protected.

All patients can have someone with them if they wish during appointments such as:

  • Consultations
  • Examinations
  • Investigations
  • Clinical recordings
  • This person can be a family member, friend or carer.
  • There may be times when the accompanying person is asked to leave an area (during x-rays or other treatments for example) but staff will explain this to you.
  • You may sometimes prefer a member of staff to be with you (a chaperone). Please request this when you book your appointment if you can, so arrangements can be made before your appointment.
  • When this isn’t possible we will try to provide a chaperone at the time of request. Sometimes we may need to re-book your appointment at a later date.
  • Staff members may also need another staff member to be there as a chaperone for certain consultations, examinations or procedures in line with our policy. You can still have your relative, friend or carer with you.

More information

Blood tests

Patients may need to undergo blood tests to aid the diagnosis of illnesses. Blood tests are undertaken in our outpatient departments by phlebotomists. Some blood tests require a patient to fast for a period of time before the blood test is undertaken. Your GP or consultant will tell you if this is the case. To safely manage the flow of patients and avoid overcrowded waiting areas we use a booking system for blood tests. Please ensure that you bring along the blood test request form that was given to you by your GP or consultant. To book a blood test appointment please select a location below

Patient advice and liaison services (PALS)

Patient Advice and Liaison Services (PALS) are a confidential NHS service designed to offer advice, support, and information to patients, their families, and carers, helping to resolve concerns and provide guidance about health-related matters.

Patient surveys

Your feedback matters! We regularly conduct patient surveys to understand your experiences and help us improve the care and services we provide at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
