A fitting name for Walsall’s hospice

People have just a couple of days left to submit their suggestions for naming Goscote Hospice which is part of Walsall Palliative Care Centre.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, along with NHS Black Country and West Birmingham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), is supporting an online survey to come up with a name that best reflects the specialist care and support that is provided there.

The  Trust took over the running of the specialist adult inpatient unit from St Giles Hospice last year.

Walsall residents, staff, current patients, family members - past and present - are all encouraged to take part and share their suggestions.

To take part and suggest a new name for the hospice, which is informally known as Goscote Hospice currently, please complete the online survey  (https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Walsallhospice). There are also suggestion boxes inside the hospice itself.

Depending upon the outcome, the CCG may wish to do an additional vote on the top three names.  If you wish to take part in the final vote and receive an update with the final name for the hospice, please advise your contact details on the survey.

The survey is open until 12noon on Thursday 28 October.

If you have any questions or accessibility issues, please contact the Engagement Team on 0121 612 1447 or email BCWB.engagement@nhs.net

The hospice now sits under Walsall Healthcare’s Well Wishers charity which serves the Manor Hospital and its Community Services. Fundraising is continuing through Well Wishers and helps by raising money for things over and above what the NHS is able to provide. These fundraising appeals come in all shapes and sizes, raising money for specific services, specialised equipment or simply something that makes patients’ lives easier and enhances their experience.

To make donations please contact the centre directly on 0800 783 9050 or get in touch with Well Wishers on 01922 656643 or fundraising@walsallhealthcare.nhs.uk
