Early Christmas cheer for young patients

Christmas has come early for young patients at Walsall Manor Hospital thanks to grateful couple Nick and Darren Robinson-Tomlin who brought in bags of toys to spread some festive cheer.

They have gathered donations thanks to friends, family and neighbours, along with customers at the Sportsmans Rest pub in Kingstanding, and popped into the hospital this afternoon.

“We’ve asked people to make donations to buy toys for children instead of getting gifts for Darren and I because we’d rather help others,” explained Nick.

The couple got married – resplendent in their Christmas jumpers – at the hospital’s former Intensive Therapy Unit back in December 2016 where Nick was being cared for at that time

“We will always be grateful to staff for everything they did for Darren,” added Nick. "And we want to cheer up the children who end up in hospital over the Christmas period."
