Accident and Emergency

The Emergency Department at Walsall Manor Hospital, also known as Accident and Emergency (A&E), is dedicated to providing high-quality care from our team of skilled nurses and doctors.

While we are equipped to handle severe injuries and accidents, a large number of our patients are those with acute and chronic medical conditions, as well as minor injuries and illnesses.

Our Emergency Department is located on the ground floor of the hospital’s new building. You can access the department directly from the main hospital entrance on Moat Road.

The Emergency Department team provides care for people with a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Acute medical and surgical conditions in adults and children
  • Exacerbated long-term health conditions
  • Severe injuries and accidents
  • Minor injuries and illnesses
  • Mental health problems
  • Acute gynaecological conditions

When not to attend the Emergency Department:

Please only attend our Emergency Department for genuine emergencies. If your condition is not life-threatening, there are other services that may be able to help you faster and more effectively:

  • Your GP: For non-urgent health concerns and long-term conditions.
  • NHS 111: Call 111 or visit the website for urgent medical advice when it’s not an emergency. They can direct you to the right service.
  • Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs): For sprains, fractures, cuts, and minor illnesses.

By choosing the right service, you help us ensure that our Emergency Department staff can focus on those with the most critical and life-threatening conditions.

Hours of operation

The Emergency Department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
