Acute Oncology Team

The Acute Oncology Team provides specialist assessment, advice and support for patients who are unwell as a result of cancer, cancer treatments, newly diagnosed cancers of unknown primary origin, or suspected cancer requiring further investigation. Working closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams we ensure prompt assessment, expert clinical guidance, and effective symptom management. We aim to improve patient care by facilitating timely investigations, reducing unnecessary hospital admissions and length of stay, keeping patients informed and involved in their care, co-ordinating referrals to appropriate specialist services, and providing ongoing support and guidance to patients and their families throughout their hospital journey

Where we are based

We cover all areas in the hospital including all medical and surgical wards, the Emergency Department, Same Day Emergency Care, Chemotherapy Unit and Outpatients.
