Chemotherapy

What We Do

Our Chemotherapy Unit is a dedicated oncology and haematology day unit, providing a wide range of treatments for various cancers. We offer care for patients with breast, colorectal, urology, lung, upper GI, and haematology cancers.

Our team works closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure a robust, safe, and effective service for our patients. This includes collaborating with:

  • Acute Oncology Nurses: These nurses provide care for inpatients and acutely unwell cancer patients.
  • Aseptic Chemotherapy Pharmacy: Our team of specialist Pharmacists, including a Lead Pharmacist for Cancer Services and an Aseptic Services Technical Manager, are an integral part of the unit. They are responsible for preparing all chemotherapy and monoclonal antibody treatments in a sterile environment, and they also support our clinical trials.

The unit has 14 treatment chairs and is staffed by five visiting Oncologists from Queen Elizabeth Hospital, three Hematology Consultants, and two Hematology Nurse Specialists.
