What We Do

Our Clinical Health Psychology Service at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust helps individuals who are experiencing psychological difficulties as a direct result of a physical health condition. We understand that living with a long-term physical illness can be challenging and can affect your emotional well-being, thoughts, and behaviour.

Our team is dedicated to helping you manage these difficulties, which may include:

  • Anxiety, fear, and depression related to your condition.
  • Feelings of anger, frustration, and low motivation.
  • Difficulties with adjustment to a new diagnosis or physical changes.
  • Problems with cognitive or thinking abilities (e.g., memory, concentration).

We work collaboratively with other healthcare teams to ensure a holistic approach to your care. The service supports patients with a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Stroke
  • Cancer
  • Chronic Pain
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)
  • Long-term neurological conditions (e.g., Acquired Brain Injury)
  • HIV
  • Coronary Heart Disease

Our ultimate goal is to help you improve your psychological well-being and promote the most effective management and rehabilitation for your physical health condition. We do this by applying evidence-based psychological approaches, tailored to your specific needs.
