Clinical Health (Psychology)

Clinical Health Psychology provides a service to individuals suffering from psychological difficulties related to physical health conditions.

The service is committed to promoting an awareness of the role of psychological and social factors in physical health to provide the most effective management, treatment and rehabilitation for Walsall residents who experience these conditions.

Areas of work include stroke, cancer, community neurological rehabilitation, acquired brain injury, chronic pain, HIV, Long Covid and children and young people’s diabetes.

The service sees people who have a physical health condition and psychological difficulties related to that condition. These difficulties may include anxiety/fear, depression, anger, frustration, motivation, grief/loss, adjustment difficulties, problems with cognitive/thinking abilities and behavioural difficulties.

Where we are based


The service is based at Darlaston Health Centre, Pinfold Street, Wednesbury.

  • The Manor Hospital, Moat Road, Walsall
  • Walsall Palliative Care Centre, Goscote Lane
  • Short Heath Clinic, Bloxwich Road North, Willenhall
  • Hatherton Medical Centre, Hatherton Street, Walsall.

How to access the service


Referrals are accepted from the condition-specific teams in which Psychology staff work i.e. stroke, cancer, community neurological rehabilitation, pain clinic, Long Covid, HIV, Paediatric diabetes.

Referrals are also accepted from GPs.
