Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

What We Do

The Community Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy Service assesses and treats a wide range of conditions affecting your bones, joints, and soft tissues. This includes issues with your:

  • Spine (from your neck to your lower back)
  • Lower Body (hips, knees, feet, and ankles)
  • Upper Body (shoulders, elbows, wrists, and hands)

Our expert team uses a variety of methods, all based on the latest research, to help you recover. These include tailored exercises, manual techniques, and valuable education and advice. Our goal is to help you regain full function or to live well with a long-term chronic condition, all with a patient-centred approach.

We also have a specialist team called the Clinical Orthopaedic Assessment Service (OCAS). This service provides expert assessment for more serious MSK conditions or those that haven’t improved with standard GP or physiotherapy care. The team includes Extended Scope Practitioners (ESPs) who can arrange specialist investigations like blood tests and X-rays, and provide treatments such as joint injections.

Where We Are Based

Our physiotherapy team is located throughout the Walsall area, not just in one place. Please note that we do not offer home visits; if you require one, your GP would need to make a referral.

We have physiotherapists at the following locations, and some clinics may also offer evening appointments:

  • Anchor Meadow Health Centre
  • Bentley Medical Centre
  • Brace Street Health Centre
  • Darlaston Health Centre
  • Holly Bank House
  • Pinfold Health Centre
  • Walsall Manor Hospital Outpatients
  • Willenhall Health Centre

We also run exercise classes from the Heart Care centre in Walsall town centre. Our usual opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, but some clinics may have different hours.

How to Access the Service

You can access our service through a self-referral, a referral from your GP, or a referral from another healthcare professional.

Self-Referrals We accept self-referrals for patients aged 18 and over who are registered with a Walsall GP. To self-refer, please use this link: http://phio.eql.ai/provider/walsall-nhstrust.

Please note: For post-operative care or if you are already under a consultant, you will need a referral from them. We are unable to accept self-referrals for the specialist OCAS service; these must be referred by a GP or your physiotherapist.

Booking Your Appointment Once we receive your referral, you will be placed on our waiting list. You will then receive an opt-in letter asking you to call our admin team to book your appointment. When you call, please let the team know if you have any special requirements, such as needing an interpreter or a clinician of the same gender.
