What We Do

The Ophthalmology department at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides a comprehensive outpatient service for a wide range of eye conditions. Our team of specialists is here to help you with common issues like cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.

We also offer a number of specialised services, including:

  • Day case cataract surgery and laser procedures.
  • Neonatal screening for newborn babies.
  • Paediatric and adult ocular motility problems.
  • An Oculoplastic service for conditions affecting the eyelids and surrounding areas.
  • Services for thyroid eye disease.
  • Orthoptics, contact lenses, low vision aids, and visual field tests.

Our goal is to provide expert care to help you maintain your eye health and vision.

Our outpatient clinics generally operate from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.


How to Access the Service

To be seen by our Ophthalmology department, you will need a referral from your GP or another healthcare professional. We do not accept self-referrals for this service.
