Ward 21

Ward 21 is our acute inpatient unit caring from children aged 0-16. We have two four bedded bays and 13 cubicles with ensuite facilities.

The Paediatric team is made up of Clinical Support Workers, Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Resident Doctors, senior Doctors, and Consultants.

We admit children and young people under different speciality teams including Paediatrics, surgical, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and Trauma and Orthopaedics (T&O.

We pride ourselves on providing high-quality care to our patients. We encourage parents/ carers to be an active part of the patient journey. Please ask any questions or speak with the Nursing team if you have any concerns

Ward 21 is on the second floor of the hospital, on Route 221. To protect our patients, all patients and staff need to buzz in and out of the unit using the intercom.

To be admitted to Ward 21 you will be reviewed by a Doctor in one of the following areas:

• PED (Paediatric Emergency Department)
• PAU (Paediatric Assessment Unit)
• COPD (Children’s Outpatient Department)

The Doctors will have a plan of care that requires admission to hospital and will arrange for transfer to Ward 21.

Ward 21 provides a 24-hour service to children and young people.
