Dialysis (Nephrology)

What We Do

The Nephrology team at Walsall Manor Hospital provides a specialist kidney care service for the local region, bringing expert care closer to home. Led by two full-time consultant nephrologists and supported by visiting consultants and specialist nurses from The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, our service provides comprehensive care for both inpatients and outpatients. We have a dedicated team on Ward 15, which includes an Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) nurse, as well as support from renal dietitians and the diabetes team for patients with diabetic kidney disease.

Our service also works closely with partners for renal replacement therapy and dialysis. The main dialysis unit for Walsall patients is located at Green Lane and is managed by Diaverum UK Ltd. For critically ill inpatients, we offer haemofiltration within our Intensive Care Unit. Peritoneal dialysis and transplant services are provided in collaboration with regional centres at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
