What We Do

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is dedicated to providing the best possible quality of life for patients with life-limiting conditions. Our specialist teams offer expert assessment, advice, treatment, and support for a range of symptoms. We work collaboratively with other agencies to ensure our information is always up to date. The service supports patients with moderate to complex needs, and our involvement can range from a single visit to ongoing support.

Our integrated team of hospital and community-based professionals includes palliative care clinical nurse specialists, consultants, specialist occupational therapists, and a wide network of other healthcare professionals. The teams work together to offer advice on symptom control, as well as emotional and financial support for both patients and their carers.

Where We Are Based

Our Palliative Care service operates across two key locations to provide comprehensive care.

Community Palliative Care Centre This team is based at the Walsall Palliative Care Centre and works across the Walsall Metropolitan Borough, visiting patients in their own homes. The Palliative Care Centre at Goscote is a purpose-built facility that provides high-quality medical, nursing, and therapy care for people living with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as support for their families.

Hospital Palliative Care Team Our hospital-based team covers all wards and departments within Walsall Manor Hospital.

How to Access the Service

Referrals to the Palliative Care service must be completed by a healthcare professional who is directly involved in your care. This ensures that the referral is appropriate and that we have all the necessary information to support you effectively.
