What We Do

The Orthoptic service at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of vision problems. Our expert team works with both children and adults to help with:

  • Visual Development: We assess and treat issues in children, such as cataracts, squints (strabismus), refractive errors (problems with glasses), and amblyopia (lazy eye).
  • Eye Movement (Ocular Motility): We help with problems caused by abnormal eye muscles or nerves, whether they are present from birth or acquired through injury or illness.
  • Binocular Vision: Our team addresses issues that affect how your eyes work together, such as double vision (diplopia) or loss of vision.

We also support the Ophthalmology department by providing visual field tests, helping with low vision aids, and assisting in contact lens clinics.
