Intermediate Care Service (ICS)

What We Do

The Intermediate Care Service (ICS) is a multi-disciplinary team that provides intensive, short-term support to patients and their caregivers. We help individuals regain their independence and confidence after a period of crisis, illness, or disability, with the goal of facilitating a safe and timely hospital discharge.

Our support can be provided in the patient’s home or in a short-stay care home bed, depending on their needs.

Our team consists of:

  • Social workers
  • Mental health and general adult nurses
  • Reablement support workers
  • Discharge coordinators
  • Physiotherapists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Homecare workers

Where We Are Based

Our service operates borough-wide, providing care in patients’ homes across the Walsall area. We also have rehabilitation beds at the following locations:

  • Woodgreen Nursing Home
  • Arboretum Nursing Home
  • Aldridge Court Nursing Home

Our operational hours are Monday to Sunday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Our main contact address is: Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust Hollybank House Coltham Road, Willenhall WV12 5QD
