Occupational Health

What We Do

The Occupational Health service is an internal department dedicated to the health, safety, and wellbeing of all staff at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. Our work focuses on prevention, protection, education, and rehabilitation to help you stay healthy at work. All services are confidential, independent, and fully compliant with data protection laws.

We provide a range of services for staff, including:

  • Health Surveillance: This involves specific health checks to monitor for early signs of work-related illness if you are exposed to health risks in your role (for example, TB surveillance or checks for respiratory and skin sensitisers).
  • Immunisations/Vaccinations: We offer a full immunisation programme, including Tuberculosis, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, and Hepatitis B vaccines, to ensure you are protected in your work environment.
  • Vision Screening: If you are a Display Screen Equipment (DSE) user, you can request a vision screening. Depending on the outcome, you may be able to claim for eye tests and single-vision lenses.
  • Early Support: We provide immediate help and support for staff experiencing stress, anxiety, other mental health issues, or back problems.
