The Respiratory Nurse Team offers an inpatient service where respiratory patients on the wards can be referred for inhaler technique, disease management/education, oxygen assessment and nebuliser assessment.
The department aims to expedite early discharge with support and advice at home. Educational visits are also arranged for patients who have been prescribed oxygen at home. Close links exist with the Clinical Measurement Unit and the department also supervises and educates on the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme.
The lung cancer service is supported by a multidisciplinary team that meet weekly to discuss patients with suspected or confirmed lung malignancy. Z full diagnostic service is offered, often initiated through our rapid access clinics, including respiratory physiology, CT scanning, bronchoscopy and CT guided lung lesion biopsies.
