Tissue Viability

What We Do

The Tissue Viability Team is a specialist nursing team dedicated to the prevention and treatment of complex wounds. We work across both hospital and community settings, including in GP practices and patients’ homes, providing expert advice to other healthcare professionals.

Our service covers all age groups, from newborns to adults. Our work includes:

  • Managing wounds that other professionals are struggling to treat.
  • Providing and overseeing pressure-relieving equipment.
  • Ensuring the availability of effective and cost-efficient wound care products.
  • Providing training and education for staff on wound care and pressure ulcer prevention.
  • Supporting the use of complex therapies, such as Negative Pressure (suction) wound therapy and Larvae (maggots) therapy.

Please note that we focus on specific wound care; more widespread skin conditions would typically require advice from a dermatologist.

Where We Are Based

Our team is based at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, but we also visit patients in their own homes, GP practices, and healthcare centres.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust Moat Road Walsall West Midlands WS2 9PS

We operate from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

How to Access the Service
