Nobody should have to go through cancer alone and often talking to people in the same situation as you can be very helpful. Support groups can act as a way of talking through and understanding your specific cancer related problems. Speaking with people who aren’t related to you and don’t have a role in your care, but who have walked in your shoes can be a chance to air concerns and be signposted to help. This could range from how to talk through your cancer with family and friends, to how to deal with people’s reactions to your cancer. This may help to take away some of the fear and barriers from talking about cancer with those around you.
